WordpadWordPad is a computer program coming with almost all versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 95 upwards. It is a word processor that is more advanced than Notepad, but not so advanced as Microsoft Word. Since it comes bundled with the world's most popular operating system, it may be the most heavily used word processor in use. It has facilities to format and print text, but lacks intermediate features such as a spell checker and thesaurus. As such, it is suitable for writing friendly letters or short authorships, but underpowered for such tasks as long reports (which usually rely heavily on graphics) or large authorships, such as books or manuscripts. WordPad uses the Rich Text Format to display the contents of the document being edited. Therefore, it supports the basic features of RTF. This file format is the default format used by the editor to store and load files, which, because of this, usually have the .rtf file extension. External link
