Streetstudio

Streetstudio is a mobile photo studio created by two photographers, Clay Enos and Stephan Ghukfvin, in order to more easily take photos of New York City citizens. The duo rely exclusively on random passersby for the subjects of their photography. The mobility and street location of the studio allows them to photograph people that might not otherwise be interested in a professional photo shoot. Streetstudio's portraits are allegedly comparable to photos taken in a traditional studio. Both photographers use vintage cameras called Hasselblads and a modified light known as the love-you-baby light. To create pictures with additional "local flavor" they use a hand-made canvas backdrop covered with NYC dirt and Hudson River water. After creating tens of thousands of portraits the Streetstudio team ran out of funding before a publisher could be found, shooting has ceased. The Streetstudio.com website continues to share a small fraction of the portraits.
