Second Temple Period

The Second Temple Period is the time of Jewish history where the second Temple of Solomon existed in Jerusalem. It was built by Jews returning to Jerusalem from captivity in Babylon under the rule of Persian king Cyrus. It was later destroyed by the Roman Empire after the revolt against Seleucid rule by Judas Maccabaeus.
