Nat Shin NaungNat Shin Naung Nat Shin Naung is acknowledged as the greatest yadu(a classic version of poem which was very popular in the 16th to 18th centuries in Burma) poet of all times. He was king of Taungoo(a medium sized kingdom at that time in Burma, now a big town). That was a reason why he was also known as yadu bayin Nat Shin Naung.(Bayin is a burmese word for king.)But specialists of Burmese literature unanimously agree that he got this name as he did unbeatable jobs in yadu literature and that this name had nothing to do with his kingship. All his works were dedicated to his dream princess, Yarza Datu Kalyar and consisted the themes of love and beauty of nature. Nat Shin Naung was very rich in vocabulary and could describe similar themes in entirely different words and rhymes. As he was a gallant warrior of his time,he let new generations know the way they set strategies and military tactics, in his yadu poems. The paragraphs describing the infantry and elephant troops were claimed to be among the greatest of his poems.Though he wrote so well on war themes, all specialists agree his poems on natural beauty and peace were also equally good.He was known to have sent his yadu poems to his lover, princess Yarza Datu Kalyar, using a well trained parrot. He was noted for his ability to describe his lust and desire in a very polite way containing no vulgar words. He was known to have written all his works in his adolescence and his youth.Later in his life,he gave up poetry and headed for war and power only. His poems on war were said to be based on his war experiences as a young prince.Later in his life,he tried to expand his Taungoo empire with the help of a Portugese delegate called Philip Debreito.Their project went proved very successful till they were beaten by King Anauhpatloon who accused them with high treason and executed them on the same day.
