Joachim Lambek

Joachim Lambek (1922-) is Peter Redpath Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics at McGill University, where he earned his Ph.D. degree in 1950. He is most famous for his work on casting the mathematics of the syntax of natural languages in logical form, the Lambek calculus, which has been enormously influential in computational linguistics.
