Joachim FriedrichJoachim Friedrich Hohenzollern Kurfrst (elector) of Brandenburg (1546-1608) succeeded his father Johann Georg as margrave of Brandenburg in 1598, and was in turn succeeded at his death by his son Johann Sigismund. His mother was Sophie Princess of Liegnitz. He was duke of Prussia on account of his grandfather Joachim II Hector and his father Johann Georg having been co-inheritors of the Dukedom of Prussia. Joachim Friedrich's sister was Sophie, who married Christian Wettin, Duke of Saxony. From that line came the later Frederick August I (the Strong) Duke of Saxony and King of Poland . His first marriage in 1570 was to Catherine Prinzessin von Brandenburg-Kstrin, daughter of Johann I Markgraf von Brandenburg-Kstrin and Katherine Herzogin von Braunschweig-Wolfenbttel. Joachim Friedrich's second marriage, in 1603, was to Eleonore Hohenzollern, born 1583, daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia and Marie Eleonore von Kleve.
