Anti Revolutionary Party

The Anti-Revolutionaire Partij (ARP, "Anti-revolutionary Party") was a political party in the Netherlands from 1879 until 1980. The Christian Democratic and Protestant ARP was founded in 1879 by Abraham Kuyper, and as such was the first national political party in the Netherlands. In 1974, the ARP formed a federation with two other Christian Democratic parties, the Reformed CHU and the Catholic KVP. In 1980, the three parties merged and formed the CDA.
