Anthony HopeSir Anthony Hope Hawkins (February 9, 1863 - July 8, 1933), better known as Anthony Hope was a British novelist, best remembered today for his short novel The Prisoner of Zenda (1894, set in the fictional kingdom of Ruritania, a prequel The Heart of Princess Osra (a collection of short stories set in 18C Ruritania) 1896) and a sequel Rupert of Hentzau (1898). Trained as a lawyer and barrister, he started writing full time after Zenda's success, completing many other novels and plays, including Sophy of Kravonia, in a similar vein.
