Shalom Aleichem

Shalom Aleichem (Hebrew שלום עליכם shālôm ʻalêḵem; Yiddish שלום־עליכם şolem aleyxem) is a greeting in Hebrew, meaning "Peace be upon you". The appropriate response is "Aleichem shalom". This form of greeting is common in the Middle East. The Arabic version is Assalamu alaikum. Shalom Aleichem is also an alternative spelling for the pen name of Yiddish author Sholom Aleichem.
