Royal National Park

The Royal National Park is a national park in New South Wales, Australia, 29 km southwest of Sydney. It is the world's second oldest purposed national park, therefore making it the first usage of the term "national park" after Yellowstone in the United States. Its original name was The National Park, but it was renamed in 1955 after a visit by Queen Elizabeth II. There are camping sites at Bundeena, Wattamolla and North Era. One popular walk is the coast walk. Catch the train to Cronulla, then ferry to Bundeena. From there you walk to North Era where you camp for the night. The next day you continue walking till you get to Otford, where you can catch the train back to Sydney. There were big bushfires in 1994 that burnt large parts of the park. Now these areas are being rehabilitated.
