Ramon Muntaner

Ramon Muntaner (born in Perelada circa 1270 - died in Eivissa 1336) was a Catalan soldier and writer who wrote the Crnica, a chronicle of his life time and his adventures as a soldier in the Companyia Catalana. The Companyia Catalana was an army of light infantry made up by Aragonese and Catalan mercenaries, called almogvers, that was sent to Constantinople to help the Greeks against the Turks under the leadership of Roger de Flor.
