Ma'alot

Ma'alot (hebrew מעלות) is a town in northern Israel, about 20 km east of Nahariyya. After the creation of the state of Israel Ma'alot had the status 'development town'. Today Ma'alot has 20,000 inhabitants. On May 15, 1974, it was the site of a attack on an elementary school by the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine that resulted in the massacre of 21 school children: see Ma'alot massacre
