Franois Leclerc Du Tremblay

Franois Leclerc du Tremblay (15771638), also known as the Pre Joseph, was a French capuchin monk, confident and agent of Cardinal Richelieu. Because of his close connection to Richelieu, and his grey monkish robe, he was nicknamed the minence grise ("grey eminence" — cardinals were referred to as eminences).
