Codename Eagle

Codename Eagle is the name of the computer game Codename Eagle (2000) and of the Battlefield 1942 port of the original game. The port of the multiplayer portion was avaible as a mod compatible with version 1.45 of Battlefield 1942. The game was set in a alternate history of World War I and featured vehicle as well as first-person shooter gameplay. The game used the Refractor graphics engine, a development of which went on to be used in the hit game Battlefield 1942 (2002). The engine was given a more aracde-like feel, as opposed to its previous, more realistic feel. Content included a series of single player missions and a online multiplayer mode with up to 32 players. The Battlefield 1942 port of the game could sustain 64 players. Codename Eagle was developed by Swedish, Stockholm based studio Refraction Games which was later to be bought by Digital Illusions, DICE.
